Jesus sent two disciples to find a donkey tied by a door where two ways met. This is indicative of the crossroads between the spiritual and the physical, between the way of God and the way of the world; between what appears to be right in human eyes, and what is clearly seen through heavenly eyes. And the colt in his scenario can quite simply be our faith. The simplicity of faith is what takes us in humility to the High Places of God. It’s not arrogance. It’s not the pride of this age. Here Today Gone Tomorrow

And when the morning appeared, and the waves of judgment collapsed on the Egyptian army there was none that remained. The once feared, mightiest military of the then known world was drowned in a miraculous defeat at the Hands of God. The darkness. Pitch black. Nothing seen. Nothing known. Hidden in shadow. A Starless gaze into confusion. Endless space of stained ebony, lost and wandering trails of obscurity. Lightless shrouds of shame. Lonely and loveless. Colors disassembled. Revelation quiet. Illumination quenched in the lingering night. Capturing darkness. Crushing darkness. Killing darkness.

Who could unfurl the gloomy curtains? Where details could be seen and descriptions drawn. Where threads of life would be detected and concealed evil disinfected, by light and hope. Where a candle’s glow would be so bright in the depressive basement of hell. Just even a glimpse of Grace would feel like a birthing constellation. If there was merely a hint of heaven in the twinkle of a distant star. And that is what the glorious gospel became. Light shining in darkness.

Let there be light and a lamb was born. Let there be light and a savior carried a cross. Let there be light and anointing broke the yokes of sinners. Let there be light and lambs blood ran thru the veins of dead religions and raised up a living church. Let there be light and a cross became a compass of hope for a hurting world. The clouds that cover the sky, but nature synonym for the haze of holiness, the cloud of glory that would come near his people. It has been seen a time or two. And then, the disciples are standing on the rocky side of a mountain when Jesus ascends before their eyes. He is shrouded in puffy white, carried on clouds, a billowing garment of the heavens, and there are streaks of gray as if to hint at the Pentecostal rain to come. And then he is gone from their site.

And what did the angels tell them? Why stand ye here gazing for the same JESUS that you’ve seen go away shall also come back in like manner. He’s coming in the clouds. So, every day, when you look at those clouds in the sky, that’s evidence of things not seen. Listen now…

People need proof. They want things to be clearly seen. But faith operates beyond the humanly visible and possible. It is the evidence of things not seen. When nature’s fire burns, it is, but a radiant symbol of the nature of our God. For the scripture says our God is a consuming fire. So, every time you look at the flame on your stove, or strike a match, or sit by a fireside in a cozy atmosphere listening to the crackling wood, just remember that fire is the evidence of things not seen.

When you feel the breeze in your hair, or you watch a gust of wind, bend the trees in your front yard, or should you see the powerful hurricane forces that can blow down buildings, just remember that wind is evidence of things not seen. Feelings that Interfere with Faith

Isaac trusted what he had been used to feeling. The hairy garment. The smell of the field. The gruff expectations of a hunter. We have to be careful of habit forming desires that lead us away from the certainty of Apostolic doctrine. Just because you feel it doesn’t mean you should say it, partake of it, or create a new belief system based on the power of that feeling. In the Kingdom of God it’s faith first, feelings second. “We walk by faith and not by sight.” II Corinthians 5:7.

He asked for venison and got goat. Venison was wild game associated over time with hunting deer. So, the taste of goat was disguised to resemble deer. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. The taste test is failed when we trust the wrong feelings. We end up settling for doctrinal goat when God wants to give us the true venison of His will. We swallow the philosophies of the world as if they are the same thing as God’s unmatched promises. We pursue experiments in the name of freedom. We exercise liberties because we believe we can do what we want without consequence. We lose intimacy with God because we’ve been convinced that sensual things of the world are equal substitutes. We bless the things that God would curse. We evoke conclusions and content and commentary based on sensations, sensations that can cause us to lose our sensitivity to the Spirit. The more you repeatedly ignore the conscience the more desensitized one becomes to the wiles of the devil. We try things we should avoid. We incite patterns of behavior that could be avoided if we simply followed the instructions of the Word. The everlasting Word becomes subject to the temporary satisfaction.  Listen now…

Tricks with the truth. Slight variations of Biblical facts. Subtle distortions of Biblical principles. These days everyone has a new religious thought. Cultic ideas abound. False doctrines proliferate like nuclear warheads. Access to larger audiences by way of social media gives the Gospel both its greatest avenue of End Time exposure, but also its greatest threat of misinformation and twisted doctrines. People are trading dependency on men and women of God who preach the Word for internet scholarship that can be achieved by a few search engines. But knowledge does not dismiss submission to Apostolic authority and God-called Shepherds.

Spies, Lies, and Algorithms, Why US Intelligence Agencies Must Adapt or Fail by Amy Zegart and Michael Morell says, “Cheap and easy access to new technologies has taken away some of the intelligence-gathering advantages that the US had over its adversaries. The proliferation of open-source intelligence, ranging from Google Maps to Twitter, as well as data gathered on private cell phones or with commercial surveillance cameras, enables foreign governments and non-state actors to be better-informed than they have ever been.”

So, basically, spies have easier access than ever before; deception has many more doors to walk through. Deception dice is rolling. Gambling devils are risking it all for one last empire of evil. How many open-source opportunities does the enemy have to your soul? Internet windows. Social networks. Video games. Cultural shaping Hollywood programming. Educational books that ever so slightly change the way you feel about certain passages of the Bible. The fires of conviction are dying out. The passion of making a stand for what is right is now a casual, comfortable seating with new suggestions.

The Confidence Booster

Psalm 65:5  By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:

No matter where you travel or spend seasons in trial, God has a refuge to be found. A moving shelter. A constant fortress. A consistent help in the desolate places. Some might travel a few miles in life and forget what they left behind; but the power of truth goes with you. It travels well. You see, he gives confidence to the ends of the earth. If you are in the Siberian ranges of cold mornings and frigid expectations, he gives confidence. If you are in the Sahara of heat and desert and long miles of waterless journey, He gives confidence. It doesn’t just work in the regions of the familiar. It works in places we’ve never been. Territories of pain. Landscapes of sickness. Dark valleys of frustration. Your trial has a finish line, but not your treasure. To the ends of the earth, both in trial and time. Chronologically and emotionally.

And the powerful revelation is that it’s not a place as much as it’s a person. It says “Who art”, indicating the person of God. How could it get any better than that? Diving housing. Sovereign residence. Spiritual refuge. Confident and secure. Peaceful and refreshing. It’s kind of like a heavenly embassy on location. And God is the ambassador. Listen now…

The Urgency of Washing Wounds

Cleansing is important. But workers of iniquity stay filthy. If you don’t keep the filth out then stopping spiritual infection will fail. God’s word is daily source for the “washing of regeneration” (Titus 3:5). Jesus stated that his disciples would be “clean through the word (John 15:3).” Paul instructed the Corinthians that their past lives of sin and seduction should remind of the power of the Gospel because they were “washed”, made clean from their past. (I Corinthians 6:11) Paul also informed the disciples at Ephesus that Jesus gave himself for the church that he might “cleanse it with the washing of the water by the Word.” (Ephesians 5:26)

If you keep rubbing dirt in the wound how can it heal? If you keep giving your ear to gossip how your trust repair from past betrayal? If you let the mud of accusation be smeared on your injured faith how can it recover? Stay clean through the preaching of the Word. Stay disinfected from doubts and lingering failures by applying the ointment of truth, the balm of Gilead. You need some salve, not fifteen more minutes of the latest headline news that confuses and angers you. Take a break from social networks and the grime of gossip contaminating your spirit. Listen to His Word. Let the counsel of Scripture wash your mind from strife and needless stress.

I see bandaged people looking for complete healing, but their bandages are being removed by dirty hands, hateful people, and apostate teachers. They are not helping the wound. They are worsening the wound, infecting it with the touch of unclean doctrines. And you wonder why you become more suspicious of the church? And you question things that used to convict you. Psalm 27 is a great prophetic passage for the seeker of God. There is comfort in knowing that He is your defense against darkness and deception. He is your clarity in a confusing world. He is your hiding place in the severities of hostility and rejection. And, it’s the Lord who is the Source of the light. It doesn’t come from a manufactured, man-made origin. It isn’t derived from human opinion, but out of God’s own Omnipotence.

The Light of truth starts with an explanation. Someone had to share the Gospel, tell you about the cross, teach you about the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Then, out of that came a personal experience. You chose it for yourself. You discovered your own encounter with God. And, after that, you began to exercise your faith, walking with God, going through storms, developing through good and bad times. And finally, there is exposure. The Deep Things of God

Psalm 42:7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. 

The depth of sorrow reaches for the depth of the supernatural. If its only pain then the waters are drowning; but if by chance God intervenes then the waters become something of power, something of deliverance, something to transfer in the flow from the past horrors to future glories. Shallow Christianity never gets there. Knee deep religion can’t satisfy this need for the deep.

Where did Peter find the catch when Jesus directed him on his boat? In the deep. Deep consecration. Deep experiences of the Supernatural. Deep places of the heart and soul that worldliness can never reach, never touch, never contaminate.

The Red Sea was a deep place of trouble, but God used that depth to drown the adversaries. If you are afraid of the depths of faith then shallow comfort won’t eliminate the enemy. He’s not afraid of half-hearted trickles. He doesn’t get spooked by misty tears that go nowhere. A little sprinkle of Pentecost doesn’t intimidate the darkness. But when the rain pours. When the soul is sold out. When the vision is unstoppable. When the flow is religiously unmanageable, the devil can’t handle a Holy Ghost flood. It takes depth to conquer devils. Listen now…

When the World Chooses Their Own Watchmen

Isa 62:6  I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, 

Isa 62:7  And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth. 

Keep not silence. The mark of the watchmen was a constant announcement with a  loud voice, reminding the citizens that someone was watching for enemies that wanted to distress them, but also for good news of a God who wanted to bless them. We cannot turn down the volume of the Gospel. We cannot mute the testimonies of truth in every corner of society. We cannot be a voiceless church in a world of devilish noise; we cannot be a whispering wind in a generation of roaring vortexes of evil; the watchmen must be heard because the world has set their own watchmen on the walls; they have paid them to lie about what’s coming; they have coached them to blind the world to the real threats to our generation; they have instructed them to speak what they are told to speak or they will be cancelled; but the watchmen of truth must rise up; they must warn this generation of the armies of devils, of the host of hell on track to attack. Stop Doing the Shame Thing

II. Being ashamed misses the fellowship. There is a testimony of the Lord, even in the lowest places; even in the environs of pain that could easily be misinterpreted. They could be seen as disgraceful and distasteful. They could be seen as dishonorable, like Paul’s imprisonment. I mean, if you are such a powerful apostle why are you in prison? Why aren’t you on a stage? In the spotlight? On tour with thousands flocking to hear you? But what the world calls a prison God uses as a stage. Paul was not ashamed of his surroundings because he was operating in the supernatural.

He was not ashamed of the negative mockery he might get for the sufferings he endured because he was in an elite place of revelation; the price paid didn’t leave him feeling left out or overlooked or inconvenienced. He “gloried in his infirmities”. (II Corinthians 12:10) He relished the fellowships of suffering to know the power of his resurrection. (Philippians 3:10) He endured the thorns to get a closer look at His throne. So he didn’t feel cheated. He didn’t feel neglected by God. He didn’t feel shortchanged or underpaid; in fact he said for me to live is Christ and to die is gain. (Philippians 1:21) He counted his losses in earthly successes and counted his gains in the sharing of the Gospel. (Philippians 3:8)

Being a partaker of afflictions has a reward of the power of God. But those who misread suffering can’t see this. They are visually stunted by what should have happened, by what didn’t take place, by who should have come through for them, by positions they should have received. Those who live in shame have a false filter through which all vision is distorted. It’s like going to the lively Carnival and standing in front of those illusion mirrors, the ones that make you stretched out and much taller or the ones that make you much shorter and heavier. It’s a mirror, but it doesn’t tell the right story, it doesn’t reflect the true nature; it doesn’t communicate the right dimensions of your body. And so shame deforms your perspective of yourself, it stretches out the rejections and shortens the confidence; it creates a different version of your soul then what God is looking at or what truly exists. Shame distorts the beauty until you only see the ugly. Shame hides the real you behind a pockmarked, war-ravaged wall of intimidation and fear. And you are left with, “they’ll never…listen now.

A Glimpse of Tomorrow for a Better Today

Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 

For the joy set before him. The incentive of the saved gave him durability during the sacrifice. He was looking forward. You can endure when you know there is somewhere better you are going. In other words, you won’t stay here in agony but you are traveling to a land of angels. The durability of our faith is constantly challenged by current events. Broken hearts. Wounded emotions. Desperate needs. Traumatic losses. Discouraging news. Bad medical reports. Betraying relationships. Sudden changes. Negative feelings. Recurring sickness. The joy set before him was a fixed outcome. If you go in this direction this is where you will end. The conclusion is greater than the conflict. The end of a thing is better than the beginning. Ecclesiastes 7:8 Listen now…

God doesn’t need a second opinion on the condition of your heart for I John 3:20 says “…God is greater than our hearts and knoweth all things.”

God has the best prescription for life, the antidote that works every time, the daily vitamin of the soul that will resist hell’s bacteria for the Word stats in Exodus 15:26,

Exo_15:26  And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

God is not trapped to one location or one holy place or one sacred box where he might operate; He is the ultimate Doctor without borders for the Word says,

Mat_4:23  And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

Cancer doesn’t get an exemption from the Cross. Diabetes doesn’t have dominion over the blood. Every virus on the planet, above the planet, in space, under the earth, in the air, in the caves, in the ground, in the seas; not one of them escapes the stripes of healing from the beating at Calvary. Every virus must bend its knee. Every sickness must surrender. Every mental ailment must acquiesce to the anointing that breaks the yoke. Every heart issue and blood issue and emotional issue must lay its weapons at the door of mercy and leave the premises where the authority of Doctor Jesus has spoken.

Not every sickness was healed in the days of Jesus on earth, but most assuredly, without even a hint of a shadow of doubt, without even one percentage of failure, every single individual Jesus ever touched or spoke a word of healing to, everyone was healed. The Exception to the Rule

There are those who live in a vacuum of self-reliance who feel they are the exception to the rule. They believe themselves to be galvanized with a special superhuman shield of invincibility that allows them to escape temptations and the grip of sin that would quickly displace other mortals. This presumption is often built on an egotistical theory that God has granted some special dispensation for them to be experiments of high exposure to forbidden things without consequence.                   

Others throughout history thought themselves to be the exception to the rule. Cain stood before God with fruit stains on his hands and a confident grin stretched on his face thinking that God would make an exception to his sacrifice because he had put imagination into it. But in the end it was simply a defiant gesture tossed at God’s doorstep of approval. The sacrifice was denied, and Cain was left with humiliation for attempting to twist God’s arm with a demonstration of pride when God was merely looking for the display of obedience. God wanted blood while Cain assumed God would settle for a bargain. God is not to be bought but obeyed. Listen now…

The Day of the Lord

Narrative

Hour after hour the Lord has been reaching for the rebel. He has given a cross laden path to redemption. He has literally spilled blood to take away the blame. He has patiently paced the mercy floor waiting for one prayer, one submission, one hint of a desire to turn to Him. But you can only spurn the Spirit so long. Eventually the hourglass will drop the last grain sand. Mercy will close her ears. Grace will retire. The cross will be only a broken memory. The blood river will dry up. The ark doors will be closed on this generation of evil doers and God-haters and selfish rebels and every refuser of His Gospel. The Word is plain in 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9:

2Th 1:7  And to you who are troubled (to be brought into difficulties, stress, or struggles) rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed (previously hidden but made fully known) from heaven with his mighty angels, 

2Th 1:8  In flaming fire taking vengeance (penalty inflicted on wrong doers) on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Psalm 1 tells us not to walk after the counsel of the ungodly. So, don’t go north with notorious enemies of the faith. Don’t go in the same direction as doubters, demons and deceivers. Don’t follow the trends of the unsaved. Avoid the pitfalls of the promiscuous. Stay away from the hallways of rebellion. When you go the wrong direction you end up in washed out dangerous places. When you stand for the wrong things you end up breaking down in storms of stress. Many are fracturing in their walk with God because they are keeping the wrong company, hearing the cynical descriptions that tear down spirituality. But if you will just stay the course of truth, walk the path of righteousness for His name’s sake, you will breakthrough walls of conflict and barricades of doubt. Listen now…

Then Pharaoh looked out his window and saw Aaron standing in a nearby field. Something was in his hand. Dirt? No, ashes. And just then Aaron and Moses required an audience and as they stood before the ever-defiant Pharaoh Moses lifted his hand and slowly allowed the ashes to sprinkle on the wind. From the ashes of the furnace boils were born. The boils got so bad on all the people that the magicians canceled their next performance; they were too embarrassed by the ravaging sores all over their bodies.

But the boils only boiled Pharaoh’s resolve, and he stubbornly went back to his room, slammed the door and would not let the slave labor be free. It’s funny how Pharaoh became more imprisoned by pride and became a slave to his own will and wore heavier chains of bondage to destiny.

You see, you can’t do it your way and have prosperity with God. And men often think God is just suppressing their skills or intelligence; that by making God a non-existent entity they can erase limitations or human guilt. But God isn’t going anywhere? And no matter who says He doesn’t exist simply doesn’t change His existence.

The fool hath said in his heart there is no God. But God is a rewarder of those who believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. There is no reward in rejection. There is no comfort in ignoring God’s existence, or in refusing God’s instructions, or in reforming God to be something man-made and man controlled. Listen now…

Extended Stay Mercy

She wasn’t used to running. Her lungs revolted in her chest and threatened to shut down. Her heart thumped so fast she felt like horses were galloping in her rib cage. She panted heavily and ran even harder. But then her right foot hit an unseen root sticking out of the ground. She stumbled and before she could regain her balance her embrace of the toddler weakened. He fell. Something snapped. And the boy yelped in pain.

The nurse panicked. She cried out in disbelief. She was trying to protect the boy from harm, not be the cause of it. But she had no time for guilt. She could hear the enemy horses thundering over the hills. She could envision the sharp swords drawn, lifted high, and maliciously brought down on the helpless. And she would not let that happen to this boy.

While the young Mephibosheth whimpered in pain, the nurse scooped him up and ran. She whispered tearful apologies in his ear and pledged to carry him for the rest of her life if necessary. And oh how escape mentalities leave lasting injuries. You are just trying to get away; get some peace of mind; get away from the haunting memories, the hurtful words, and the hateful feelings. But in your dash from death you stumble. You hastily make decisions about things that needed a little more time; you tripped over trust and put your faith in someone who wasn’t really experienced to handle your situation. Now, that you have escaped the pain of the past you live with the pain of hurried decisions. But there is hope, my friend. God knows how to build a bridge of hope from the mangled fragments left behind by a rush to judgment. God can repair what was broken in fear. He can elicit inspiration from an injury. You may feel lame in certain areas of your faith, but the King has plans for you. Just trust him…Listen now.

Peter will later disagree with Jesus and beg him not to talk this way. Jesus will rebuke him. Sometimes our sorrow cannot see the power that is to come. Peter was so focused on the mention of the cross that he couldn’t understand that there would be an empty tomb. The resurrection was hidden in the sorrow. So, we see the sadness. We hear the hurtful. Don’t Look at Me That Way

Washed. He cleaned me. The filth you once knew is gone. The dirt of mistakes is gone. The mud of sin and the grime of self-destruction is gone. There is no trace of the terror I used to be, just the truth of what HE has made me. The stains of blame are scrubbed away. The stains of rebellion seemingly irremovable, making me an object that was irredeemable, they are simply gone. Vanished beneath the blood. Disappeared in the deliverance detergent of grace. Erased by the mercies of the Lord that are new every morning. The evidence that was once against me, is now the testimony of a God who is for me. The marks of malice, the stains of stubbornness.

My soul is rinsed from regret. My heart is spotless because the blood of the lamb is the best spot remover. My hands are clean. My vision is clear. My attitude is adjusted from hate to love. My first step is not toward the darkness to do what I want in the world, but toward the light to let the world see what the Lord has done. 

Sanctified. He gave a cause.

Justified. He delivered me from condemnation.

Peter got a Light Sentence

Peter slept between two soldiers. Chained in the cold. Guarded by evil. A dirty dungeon floor. Dim lit hallways. Lightless souls wandering about. Shadowy figures leaning here and there. Think about it. The church was praying, interceding; Peter was out, sleeping like the dead. While the intercessors were warring, Peter was snoring. Some were restless, but Peter rested. Arrested, then rested…not bad when you have faith in God.

How can he sleep like that in a prison? Cramped quarters. Surroundings are terrible. His body aches. His eyes are heavy. His freedom is gone and he can barely move.    Muddy walls. A stench of sweat and urine permeating every inch of the atmosphere. Grouchy guards. Unfavorable future. Uncertain hours ahead. James, his good friend of many years has already been eliminated, martyred for the Kingdom. But Peter is sleeping in the cell. Why?  Simple. He was tired. Sometimes you don’t need a reason, just a place to lie down. You ever been so tired you could sleep on concrete in the middle of rush hour? That was Peter.

Now, it mentioned he was given over to a quaternion of soldiers. Four different soldiers watched the prisoner every six hours, making a team of sixteen soldiers over a twenty-four-hour period. Two would be chained to the prisoner. Two would stand outside the prison door. That’s sixteen guards. But One God….

I know some of you are outnumbered by the guards of hell; they want to lock you up in shame, keep you a prisoner of the past, make you live out your last days in the dungeon of depression. But in your case it ain’t how many guards are on location, it’s how many gods…and in your case you only need One!! Listen now…

A Lot Can Happen in Three Days

Weak. Frail. Exhausted. The body is drained of nutrients. Fluids of hope have been spent. His flesh longs for a simple sip of water. Dehydration has made its mark with parched lips and screaming muscles. He is dizzied by desire, for hope is drawn from his core like the blood will soon be drawn from his veins. He is thirsty. But he cannot drink human wells. There are no refreshing streams of relief. He is not near a waterpot of peace. Not here. Not in this moment.  He must drink the cup. The lonely, terrible, torturous, sin-tormenting cup. The transgression-filled, dirty, poisonous, blame-embittered, disobedient-laced cup.

And he has never felt so weary. But there is no time for rest.

It is like the virtue of a thousand worlds has drained from him. Sin siphons justice from his broken body. Death stands in the distance wondering how it can touch such a holy body. But destiny must be completed. Promises have to be performed. Love has to finish this course.

He is weakened by love. He doesn’t want man to be lost. He is weakened by the light burning in him. It contrasts with the darkness. It wrestles with evil. It clashes with sin and the Satanic. He is weakened by the sickness of the sinner. He aches for their liberty. He moans for their mercy. He cries loud and strong for their future, one without darkness and death; one without hopelessness and hell; one without threats and demonic thrones. Listen now…

The Lingering Peace of a Forgiven Past

Psa 103:12  As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

As far as the east is from the West is Unreachable. This is not a measurable distance. It is the horizontal revelation of God’s mercy, dealing with us on a plain of sin and hope. Sin is stretched so far away from the sinner, that now the sinner can hear the voice of God without condemning interference.

As far is truly contrasted with east from the west. If I said as far as Denver is from Dallas you would have a measurable. You can’t measure forgiveness with a ruler, or a mileage track, or traced steps of grounds discovered and surveyed. You couldn’t even say as far as Pluto from Mercury. Or our galaxy from the most distant galaxy from us. And then think of he directional revelation. East from West. It keeps moving. It is an infinite gap that keeps growing. Forgiveness from condemnation incrementally grows more distant with each service, with each perfecting season of prayer; with each fiery trial successfully endured and testimony gained. The power of forgiveness increases and guilt of the past decreases as you walk with God. That should inspire you to keep on the move. Keep going forward in faith and faithfulness. Listen now…

Confessions of a Revelation

When Elijah first looked at it, the broken altar, it lay in a heap of scraps. Disjointed wood. Scattered rocks. Blood-soaked splinters. Sweat washed remains. It was chaos and madness, where the hyped-up heathen failed in desperation to get Baal’s visible answer. They were left with blank stares, empty enchantments, and a noisy human display with nothing divine in it. It had been a concert of futility. Some of them were so weary they looked like statues poured into a mold of shock. Faces gaunt. Sleepy eyes. Lifeless expressions. Their show was over. The clouds drew a momentary curtain over the sun. The stage was now empty, and one contestant of truth remained. The eclipse of Baal was removed, and true light was ready to shine, ready to burn.

Sometimes God lets the noisy deceivers have their say and stand on their stage. He lets them wiggle and waste away in their showmanship and powerless prayers. He lets the fake fall. He lets the imaginary play out. When all the tricks and treachery are done, then truth steps forward; there are some Elijah’s that are going to step forward in this hour.

He fit the pieces of the altar together, like a puzzle of prophecy, fitly formed, tightly mounded; order restored. Destiny reshaped. Revival ready. Prayer empowered. He rolled this stone that way and pulled the wood this way; he wiped away the futile blood of heathens that cut themselves. He blew away the dust of their frenzied dance. After he rolled in and accurately placed the last stone, Elijah stabbed the air with a prophetic finger and counted the twelve stones, Israel’s God-given number. He smiled in satisfaction. He glimpsed toward a heaven that would soon descend. He narrowed his gaze upon the surroundings and commanded barrels of water be poured. He wanted the altar to be soaked, baptized in water. The promise of fire seems to be connected to a baptism of water…there would be no sensual manufacturing, no magic trick or sleight of hand; he didn’t need illusion, he had Divine inspiration. The blood is dripping. Redemptive raindrops. A crimson storm. Dusty soils splotchy and darker, patches of grace here and there. Ribbons of flesh hang. Wheezing moans resound on bitter winds. Those who hear will be haunted on a thousand nights by the ghastly figure of this beaten man. It is ugly. Who can bear it? It is nauseating. Who can leave the scene and have an appetite? Yet, in contrast, it is morbidly beautiful, contradictorily amazing. For in the shredded muscle and flesh one finds a miracle; in the torn and ripped, gashed and gaping, one finds something greater than medicine; a Divine prescription for the diseased and gruesomely sick. “By his stripes ye were healed.” I Peter 2:24

Slap. The scourge has found its aim. Slap. Guttural moans escape the Healer’s lips. Slap. Gasps and sickened oohs and aahs fill the air. Slap. The ragged cords like razor sharp teeth of leviathan dig in, catch and tear. Slap. Blood spatters the ground, the guards, and the splintery column to which he is bound. Slap. And the flesh tearing bite takes another hunk of his mortal body, while something otherworldly is being sewn into the fabric of eternity. If this man had been a criminal even then it might seem too gratuitous, this macabre form of punishment, torturous and borderline sadistic. Maybe a mass murderer deserved this, but not a Messiah. Maybe a pirate captured from high seas of plundering and thievery might deserve this, but not a Giver of love. Pray On

The room was small. The huddled group was desperate. The blinding sun invaded the windows. Hungry feet paced. Desiring souls hummed. Stored prayers broke forth. Geysers of intercession. Explosions of determination. Burning embers of volcanic indignation. They would not remain silent in the storm. They refused to acquiesce to threats and human thrones.

Somebody burst forth in tongues. Another bowed and rocked back and forth. Others leaned against the earthen wall. No matter the position they all prayed. No matter the posture they all prayed. No matter the problems they all prayed.

Passivity dissolved. Faint heartedness vanished. Boldness blazed. Fear took a back seat to the driving travail. It got louder. The intensity flamed. The words echoed down the street. Sinners nearby heard it. Sanhedrin members would eventually get the report. The Jesus name bunch is back at it. Praying again. Preaching that name again. Their red faces of anger couldn’t stop it. Their verbal threats and physical harm couldn’t silence it. Their political motives and society concerns didn’t compromise them. They loudly proclaimed it. They amplified their souls from the hot furnaces of prayer and when their mouths opened, hot coals of truth lit the world on fire. Pray On…Listen now.

Mar 13:13  And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 

Endurance and the end go together. Times are changing, but not truth; yet many are trying to redefine truth. We have to endure the temptations to modify the message just to fit in. The love of many waxes cold while the fires of destruction burn around the world. The names of a thousand other gods are permissible in many social and educational settings, but the name of Jesus is canceled; and we have endure the possibilities of being eliminated from social circles because we dare pledge allegiance to the Son of God.

When the race started it may have appeared to be a level track; that your race would circle around seasons of conflict, but basically stay on the same grade, never rising or falling too high or low; fans of Apostolic past cheering you on; sponsors of hope endorsing you from every side; everyone open to your testimony because of the miracles in your life; but as time goes by you’ve realized that this race is more like cross-country than the neatly, outlined boundaries of a race track circling a nice grassy field…listen now.

During the Storm. The muted thunder rumbled in a graying sky. Haughty men who had laughingly scoffed at Noah silenced their conversation. The roofs that served as umbrellas from the beginning rain would soon offer no defense from the flash floods. Soon the midday sky would look more like a sky in the night. Darkening clouds grew even darker. Lightning raced ahead of each deafening boom of intensifying thunder.   

The thinking man who had reasoned away Noah’s predictions suddenly shut off his mind. For his hand held mouth could no longer speak logic; it was too busy screaming. Understanding gave way to shock. Need overtook arrogant denial; a need for safety, a need for survival, a need for shelter. Those who had danced in bars while Noah and his sons stayed busy building now began involuntary dance routines as the fountains of the deep broke up.

The thrill seeker became the God seeker. Undulating waves of death attacked every inch of lower elevation. As the nightmare continued, thousands rushed to higher ground. But doom could not be avoided; for the water ascended to higher elevations. They had a chance to enter the ark on a sunny day, when there was no threat of bad weather, when the rain of destruction was still thousands of miles away. Instead, rejection ruled their tongues; hateful rhetoric spewed with fervent insults now reciprocated back to them in untamed torrents.

The torment most felt was not provided by the swirling winds and rain, but in the horror of being so terribly wrong. All the tarot card toting prognosticators, the astrologers who studied the stars, understood celestial maps and calculated seasons had arrogantly overlooked the simple words of Noah. Listen now…

David had a heart for God. He wanted God to preserve his existence and experience. He didn’t want to just amble through trials and treasures of life without God’s Presence; and he also had a passion for the Presence of God. The enemy of our faith can’t defeat us with offense if we preserve our heart, if we maintain a quest for what is right, and if we guard our thoughts and ambitions with truth. We need to be guarded by the grace of God. We must be hedged by His Holiness.

God can keep us from the wolves of hell. He can fend off the predators of darkness. And David wanted this preserving power. He wanted the Righteousness of God to empower him. This brings about an enduring testimony. It brings about a durable faith. Listen now…

Luk 5:4  Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 

Luk 5:5  And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. 

Luk 5:6  And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

The frustrated fisherman glanced at the barren nets. He rubbed his hands over his eyes and wished he could wipe away the futility of the night. His back ached. His bank account suffered. He stared at a disappearing moon that hung like a curved blade over the waters, and part of him wanted to just cut up these empty nets and make new ones. The morning water lapped at his feet. The boats creaked in the gentle waves. A cool breeze brought no comfort to his tired face. His sleepy eyes dreamed of a big catch. But as the sun arose his spirit did not…

  1. Nevertheless. It just cancelled everything negative before this word. It stopped looking at the past and it started seeing the potential of the moment. Let down the net, don’t give anymore excuses. Let down the net, stop talking about what didn’t happen. Let down the net…
  2. And when they had this done…it’s not what Peter said; it’s what He did. It could have ended with something he said. We can’t. I won’t. I will never happen. Mind your own business. You don’t work in his line of work. Stick to what you know. I’ve toiled all night and I’m going home. The nets didn’t break until Peter first had a break…He broke from the past to empower the moment. The colt was something that the Lord needed at a specific time. This is us at the crossroads. You and I are often frustrated and fearful at the crossroads. The crossroads of life that can often be indicative of indecision. It can be a place of hesitancy because of past failure. It can be a place of pause because we’re just simply not sure what to do next, where to turn, or what direction we should take; and what signs we should follow. But if we can treat our faith like this colt in the text, we need to understand that it was tied by the door, and that’s exactly where it needs to be until the Lord says go. Till the Lord says move. When it comes to faith that is exactly what God is requiring of us individually as a church; because, with faith comes faithfulness, and out of truth comes fruitfulness. The Field of Answers

Where were you when God gave you a promise? It is important to remember because you may have paid it little attention if you were in a time of trouble, or if you were feeling your self-worth to be lower than the trash in a land fill. It’s hard to receive a promise when you are down in the dumps because you might just throw it in the dump. I wonder how many treasures could be found in the trash, how many seeds of prosperity lay in the wastelands of our doubts and fears?

Bankrupt. Broken. Emptied. Exhausted. There seems to be nothing left. All options are drained. Desolation rules where forsaken empires of vegetation once dwelt. The gates are unhinged and crooked. The walls are crumbled into piles and scattered in charred debris. Empty sacks once filled with grain blow around in the abandoned streets. It doesn’t look good. The future is mysterious and obscure. The nights seem longer and the days have little sun. Nothing is growing. There are mostly things that are rotted and peeling and wasted…

Jeremiah was instructed by God to make an illogical investment…

Part of this is that Redemption doesn’t make sense. Why buy something that looks run down and forsaken? Why purchase something that can’t give you anything in return? Why put value into property that is owned by another Master, for at the time Babylon possessed the land. Redemption doesn’t see the present condition; it invests on the future possibility. Not what it is, but what it could be.

You are now in a field of answers. Growing from the thickets of trial and trauma are lovely leaves. Pushing through abandoned acreage are tenacious stalks of restoration and grace. Shames melts away in the blanketing revelation of roses and lilies and orchids and hope. Walk out there and tear one from its soil, pluck it from the fertile dirt. And know that for every pain there is a promise; for every ache there is an answer; for every heartbreaking setback there is a Sovereign plan; for every fragment of dreams stuck in the potter’s field, there is a vessel of honor to be formed from the damage. Three Frogs and a Sword

What comes out of the mouth of this trio of darkness is dubious to the mind, dangerous to the soul, and destructive to the body. If you listen long enough to their speeches you will feel yourself begin to question things that were concretely driven deep in your heart. If you taste the temptation of their offerings you will begin to believe that holiness tastes nasty and rivers of living water are too bitter to drink.

So, you have to challenge these ancient spirits with a newborn experience. “out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength that thou mightiest still the enemy and the avenger.” To still the enemy is to silence his hateful, demeaning rhetoric. The Spiritual application here is that when someone opens their mouth as a newborn babe in Christ, the New Birth Experience; it mutes hell. It’s like every auditory nerve in the Universe suddenly goes deaf, and as if some ethereal sound producer is at the controls the evil words fade out. Huh? I can’t hear you. I’m too busy singing. Huh? I can’t hear you. I’m too busy quoting the Word. Huh? I can’t hear you. I’m too busy praying in the Spirit. Your New Birth Experience has more power than demonic exaggerations that try to intimidate you. They will boast weapons of shame. They will target your vulnerable areas. But your New Birth Experience has more power than demonic excavations. These are the things they dig up from your past. Bones of bitterness. Rotted flesh of failures. Decomposed bodies of sin and regrets. Skulls of old thoughts in the dirt of shame. But your New Birth Experience has more power than demonic exploitations. These are the disadvantages the enemy thinks you have; your weaknesses he can key in on; your failures of the past that he can try and capitalize on when you try to do something for God, say something for God.

Goliath threatened Israel in I Samuel 17 and the Israelites were weakened by what they saw in Goliath. But then came David. And David was strengthened by what God saw in him. God’s view of us is more powerful than our fearful view of the enemy. Listen now…

Our Greatest Comfort in Chaos

I believe the Rapture of the Church is upon us. I do not believe the Rapture has to wait for any Biblical prophetic, End Time signs to be fulfilled. As we face the growing crisis in Israel, and as we understand Israel’s role in End Time Prophecy, the appearing of our Lord seems more imminent than ever. There are several reasons why the Rapture is our greatest comfort in chaos. Some of the following are:

1Thessalonians 1:9  For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; 

1Thessalonians 1:10  And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

  • The Patience of the Saints. Wait. Eagerly expect. Disciplined Desire. Continue stedfastly. What part of this shows sinful indulgence? When you wait you want whats coming, you walk with character, and you worship with consistency.
  • (1Th 3:13)  To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
  • The Preparation of the Saints. Established in holiness. Unblameable is that which lives in repentance, not reproach. It gives a good reputation. No grounds of accusation. What part of this shows willful ignorance? Listen now…

It’s not a worldly peace. It’s not a peace that comes and goes. It’s not a peace treaty that eventually gets broken because it’s signed with false intent. It’s not a money back guarantee given by a slick salesman who doesn’t intend on keeping his end of the bargain. It’s a lasting peace. It’s an enduring covenant. It’s a something age can’t wrinkle, death can’t erase, thieves can’t confiscate, darkness can’t dim, humanistic ideas can’t produce, new philosophies can’t fade; it’s a lasting peace. Time can’t spend it. Seasons can’t wither it. Rust can’t touch it. Lies can’t reinterpret it. Hopelessness can’t redefine it. It’s a lasting peace. When panic has bled its last terror and fear has intimidated its last soul and when anxiety has tormented its last emotion; when dread has painted its last twilight; and fright has produced its last haunting; when sadness has squeezed out its last tear and sorrow has written its last mournful note, the peace account will still be full.
