Matthew 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
Peter will later disagree with Jesus and beg him not to talk this way. Jesus will rebuke him. Sometimes our sorrow cannot see the power that is to come. Peter was so focused on the mention of the cross that he couldn’t understand that there would be an empty tomb. The resurrection was hidden in the sorrow. So, we see the sadness. We hear the hurtful. We feel the failure. We smell the stench of death and the fragrance of the Rose. We taste the acrid bitterness of defeat, but the sweetness of celebration. Listen now…
