Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
For the joy set before him. The incentive of the saved gave him durability during the sacrifice. He was looking forward. You can endure when you know there is somewhere better you are going. In other words, you won’t stay here in agony but you are traveling to a land of angels. The durability of our faith is constantly challenged by current events. Broken hearts. Wounded emotions. Desperate needs. Traumatic losses. Discouraging news. Bad medical reports. Betraying relationships. Sudden changes. Negative feelings. Recurring sickness. The joy set before him was a fixed outcome. If you go in this direction this is where you will end. The conclusion is greater than the conflict. The end of a thing is better than the beginning. Ecclesiastes 7:8 Listen now…
