Shepherds in Luke 2 kept watch over their flock by night. This means that often the shepherd didn’t sleep at night because they kept their open on the surroundings. They protected. They ran off wild creatures. They scared away hirelings. They confronted wolves. They made sure the fences remained strong. And in a sense, we all have a shepherd’s responsibility to keep watch over one another, as Jesus keeps watch over our souls, and as the fivefold ministry watches over our growth and walk with God. God wants you to flourish, not fail. You can bloom with blessings, branch out in revelations of truth. Our hopes are in the righteousness of the Lord. It is that righteousness that allows us to flourish, to grow beyond fleshly limitations, to extend beyond the shadows of death, to branch out beyond carnal reasoning. Purpose must be connected to pleasing God. When you please God you have steps that lead up from failure into greater understanding. If you’ve been disappointed with yourself, reach for change at the altar of fire; repentance is still a powerful thing that redirects us. Listen now…

The alarming gurgling sounds of drowning men. Battalion Soldiers weighed down by heavy armor fighting the currents of death. Arms flailing on a sea of destruction. Legs energetically squirming in the vacuuming depths. Feet caught in spinning chariot wheels as helpless warriors are pulled under to fight a watery foe. But there is no sword to help them. No military expertise to save them. No advanced technique or skilled training. These arrogant Egyptians had no appetite for repentance and now the sea is hungry. It swallows the battalions and digests the horses and chariots and belches out the dead upon the shores. It appears that one might make it out and then a merciless riptide jerks them under. They are banished and seen no more.
They are sucked into judgment. Pulled into the expanse of timeless hell. Washed away by waters of truth. They had believed the lie of Pharaoh and followed him into an abyss of eternity. But their forward motion led to panic and emotions of terror. Screams and hopeless pleas. Sightless eyes stared into a dead sky. Gaping mouths drooled water. The whooshing lapping waves the only sound left on the horizon of the slain/or the rhythmic shushing waves around the Egyptian corpses is an eerie lullaby. Listen now…

We are near the end of days. There is an ascent of apostasy, a rise of rebellion. Forces of evil will march against the faith of the ages. There is seduction involved for we must deal with seducing spirits of the last days. There are satanic sympathies involved, because man cannot help himself when he wants to fight for what belongs to him, and in a wicked fashion what belongs to others.
But while evil is mounting, the church is on the rise as well. Revival fires burn. Deliverance messages release power. Anointing crushes oppositional forces of temptation and shame. Hope climbs on the shoulders of faith. And conquest doesn’t belong to the enemy for long, as God arises and scatters the enemy. Listen now…

We serve a gourmet God. But many settle for fast food religion. And we end up with leftovers of disappointment. But God’s word is bread that satisfies. When you are thirsty don’t drink from the ponds of deficient philosophies. When you are hungry, don’t labor for that which only feeds the lust of the flesh; your spiritual man will starve. But partake of the bread that satisfies your soul and ratifies your faith and amplifies your voice in praise to God! Listen now…

Some people settle for the leftovers of the world. They settle for the stale remains of pride. They settle for the moldy loaves of human opinion. They feast on things that won’t strengthen the heart or help the inner man, and they end up worse off than before. Comparisons with others weaken them. Distractions of the heart keeps them from living the life God intended for them to live. They stumble around like beggars, feeding from trash bin to trash bin, hoping to get something decent on occasion. But sin and anger and bitterness only give you contaminated bread. You need the Word of God. The Word of God is the bread that never fails and always feeds the soul. Listen now…

You have to understand that you have to bring forth before you see the bud; don’t get the sequence out of order…don’t look for the success without the seed; spend time in the Word; stay in prayer; build those daily altars. When you fall in love with God you seek more than results, you want to spend time with Him, and what buds out of that is more lasting and eternal in value.
We often talk about people doing what they please; which means there is a sense of selfishness; but when it comes to God, we want Him to do what he pleases because it’s always for our best; there is no better route to redemption; there is no better way to live your life; there is no better way to learn and be blessed by what you learn. And there is no better way to see yourself and others… The blessing exchange. Instead of…powerful words. Instead of the thorn shall come up the myrtle tree…sometimes there is so much bad that has taken place in your life, all you expect is bad the next time. But instead of the bad comes the good; instead of the nightmare comes the fulfillment of a dream. Listen now…

His ways are higher. We are trapped in mazes of fear. Hedges of anxiety surround us and we wonder where we might find the exit. Walls of shame. Blockades of bitterness.
There is certainty about His ascendant knowledge. He knows the whys of what is happening to us.
There is salvation in his knowledge. He knows the way of escape.
God wants you to flourish not fail; he wants you to thrive not just barely survive; you don’t have to walk around crippled by futility and staggering under the influence of past shame; God wants you to expand not live caged in the same ole every day experiences of pain and procrastination; boom in success, not destruction; break forth in achievement rather than being bummed out by another decline in results. The shepherds were in a field near the birthplace. Angels told them where to find the baby. Baby Jesus was in a stable, wrapped in swaddling clothes and laying in the manger. It was just as they were told. How often do we hear something and then it doesn’t live up to expectations? Or, it isn’t anything near what you thought you would see. But when God tells you something, it’s as simple as He said it and it’s as exactly as He said it…listen now.
