The word “pricked” is very emphatic word; it is not silently passive. It means be pierced, stabbed, of the feeling of sharp pain. (Superficial doctrines that appease the flesh won’t do this to you; it won’t pierce you; it will pacify you.) It is connected to anxiety, remorse, and to be deeply moved. According to Greek Lexicon based on Semantic Domains it also means to be greatly troubled, to be acutely distressed. Interestingly, they said it also means, “to experience acute emotional distress.” My friend, this is what true repentance looks like; being confronted with the Gospel is not just a casual, pillow talk format; it is not an exchange of ideas in a debate with God; on the contrary, it cuts to the depth of the soul; it pierces through hypocrisies and carnal tendencies. It’s not the sugarcoated, mixed messaging tactics of hirelings. It’s not the discounted, cheapened grace interpretations of liberal theologians who move closer to sin-friendly assumptions. It is not the dull edged incapable philosophies of modern pulpits that seek humanist acceptance; which, is like taking a butter knife to a Redwood tree, the lack of sharp edged, cutting ability just ain’t gonna get very far.
Monotonous agreement with majority opinion. Flat-tire mobility of perverse ideas that thumps, thumps, thumps down the road to nowhere. Twisted theologies that change with chameleon frequency to fit whatever lusts of the masses dictate…
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Not endure can also be translated tolerate. They will not tolerate sound doctrine. Listen now…
