Luk 6:17 And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;
Luk 6:18 And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.
Luk 6:19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.
- Some couldn’t get the virtue because they wanted him to vacate the premises. They were too threatened politically to surrender their own needs to him.
- Other couldn’t get the virtue because they wanted him to show violence in overthrowing the Roman Empire. They wanted him to be more military soldier and less spiritual savior.
- Even others couldn’t get this virtue because they didn’t share his views. They wanted him to agree with their religious brand; whether it be the Sadducees given to rejecting the resurrection of the dead; or it be the Pharisees who demanded strict adherence to the law; or it be the Herodians who wanted to remain favorites among the Roman governors and magistrates; or whether it be the zealots who desired an empire building earthly king. And when we spend more time trying to get someone to agree with us; we need them to vindicate our feelings and again, we miss the virtue of his healing grace and love.. Listen now
